Christian Trauma Treatment

Trauma profoundly impacts daily life, triggering responses to familiar emotions that evoke disturbing past experiences. These experiences can range from significant events like abuse or accidents to what we refer to as “little t” moments, which occur when emotions overwhelm processing. In such triggered moments, individuals recognize overreactions, yet the realization often proves ineffective.

Processing trauma involves altering the emotional charge of the event rather than altering the memory itself. Two primary tools I employ are EMDR and EFT, both of which utilize tapping techniques. These methods allow us to process emotions without reliving the distressing event. There may be instances when emotions are difficult to articulate. These two therapies allow for a decrease in emotional resonance enabling you to remember the events of the past without being drawn into it with emotions.

As a Christian, you possess a robust support system within your faith. God’s promises in His word provide solace and love during the challenging process of managing uncomfortable feelings. This enables you to find peace as you go through the process,
