Christian Anxiety and OCD Treatment
If you experience anxiety, you are not alone. Anxiety is the most prevalent mental health concern in our nation. It manifests in constant worry, intrusive thoughts, and fears that confine individuals and diminish their sense of self. Anxiety can prevent individuals from fully participating in life, leading to feelings of isolation and self-blame. It may also cause embarrassment. Symptoms include sleep disturbances, excessive worry, intrusive thoughts, trouble concentrating along with somatic symptoms of increased heart rate, pit in the stomach, and sweating.
In some cases, anxiety may be more complex and associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). OCD can create a cycle of intrusive thoughts and behaviors that are difficult to control. While individuals may recognize the irrationality of their actions, they lack the ability to interrupt these patterns. OCD is an anxiety disorder that requires specialized training, such as Exposure Response Prevention Therapy, which I offer.
Faith serves as a valuable resource in addressing anxiety. Scripture, as God’s word, holds personal relevance and can transform lives when spoken over them along with prayer. I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my approach, which utilizes individuals’ values and faith as integral components of their treatment.
