Therapy

I utilize therapies that help to decrease symptoms and build psychosocial resilience. To shift and decrease emotional discomfort,  heart centered traditional talk therapy along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy known as CBT,  EMDR, traditionally know as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reproccessing and EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. We utilize EMDR through bilateral stimulation which is done with tapping. EFT is also a therapy that uses tapping. It consist of tapping points around head, face and body while making statements that we will create together. We weave in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy where you learn to accept and diffuse the ideas that cause you distress and build psychological flexibility. We do this through mindfulness which helps you learn to feel good in the present moment despite life difficulties. We look at and use your values as this enables you to bring meaning and purpose to the process, as you move forward. Anxiety may always arise but becoming psychologically flexible will enable you to apply all of this to future challenges.

Consultation

Consultation is to determine whether we will be a good fit. I will ask you some questions and only require brief answers. I primarily work with anxiety diagnoses. Please bring whatever questions you have for me.

Treatment Process - Session by Session

To give you comprehensive services and provide your insurance company with necessary information, we need to work at the process methodically. I use a collaborative process in treatment, planning and note taking.

First session - We begin by taking your mental health history along with information around presenting problems and symptoms to determine diagnosis, line of treatment and what discharge criteria will look like. You will be asked to think about goals and bring some ideas to our next session to help us create a workable and effective treatment plan. Homework will be a part of treatment and helps you to implement change more quickly.

Second session- Develop treatment plan: This includes goals we want to achieve, what we will use to work on those goals and how to determine that progress is occurring. Treatment plan will be redone every 3-6 months.

Third Session; Psycho education is an important part of the process. It will be ongoing during treatment. I will teach you about how the mind works and help you understand why we are utilizing different techniques. This helps you engage more easily in the process, as we apply therapeutic modalities to your goals.

Fourth session; We begin active therapy, utilizing a suds (subjective units of distress) scale to determine change during sessions and between sessions. Collaborative process note taking enables you have a say about and knowledge of what I am providing to your insurance.
